Welcome to Rock Parish Council

Rock is a large rural parish in western Wyre Forest District, covering about 14 square miles and stretching over 20 miles from Dowles Brook in the north to the Abberley-Dunley Road in the south. Much of Wyre Forest lies within the parish, including a Forestry Commission visitor centre. The parish name of Rock is said to have originated from the old spelling of the word ‘oak’ reflecting the area’s once oak-dominated forest. Today, the woodland includes a diverse mix of broadleaf and conifer species.

Situated mostly over 500 feet above sea level, Rock offers wide views, including the Clee Hills, The Wrekin, Malvern Hills, and Clent Hills. On clear days, landmarks like Worcester Cathedral and Bredon Hill are visible, along with the River Teme valley.

The parish supports diverse rural activity, including mixed farming, orchards (notably cherries), and timber industries such as sawmilling and wood product manufacturing.
